Should this chap be recognised?

Hi,

this from Burngreave Cemy here in Sheffield.

post-17978-1218550324.jpg

He isn't on CWGC.

He received wounds to his chest and back.

I have his death cert and it states cause of death as, 'gastro enteritis resulting from gunshot wounds'.

He was discharged to pension on 11th July 1916. He returned to his parents at Wallesey where his condition got worse, being diagnosed with TB.

The CWGC will not recognise him, anyone know why? I thought he would be a cert for recognition?

regards

Dean.

Dean/Terry

His pension record at Ancestry confirms the injuries received & TB - I can provide a copy if necessary

Hi Terry,

apologies, didn't mean to mis lead any one, a case has been put to CWGC and been rejected as far as i know, i was just wondering why when he seemed to tick all the box's with what i know up to now?

He was my discovery and some one else wrote to CWGC and got a 'refusal', i know it's a very complex process to get recognition, but i still think personally he should get the recognition he deserves.

regards,

Dean.

Chris, is it possible that you could look up two names for me on Ancestry?

If so I will send them in a PM

Thank you

Peter

It seems that Pte Harvey's case was not put to MoD/CWGC as a formal submission for recognition as a non-com.

This has now been rectified and we await the outcome.

Thanks Terry,

I wish that i had come here from the off, but i let someone else take over.

Lesson learned.

Dean.

Hi Nick,

How about 45,000 as a start! No one can be 100% sure but it certainly runs into the tens of thousands...

Having looked at this mans service records on Ancestry, I would say this case is a very strong one. Nice detective work Dean.

Nick,

Then join us in our crusade! All volunteers made most welcome... Send a P.M to Terry Denham or John Hartley and they will welcome you on board and give you a mass of boring, tedios but vitally important work to do in your sparetime! You can then be a member of a very small, select and elite club. Only a handful of dedicated volunteers are doing this specialist work on an on-going basis in the WORLD most of whom have very close links to this superb forum.

If you want to find out more about these non comms, have a good look here (John Morecombe's peerless website) - http://www.cwgc.co.uk

Dean

Looks like a very good chance his will be accepted as war related death with the clear link to GSW on his D Cert and this injury confimed by his medical discharge record.
