Have you definately got the right mic to your dad & not another Barnett? It took me a while to get the right Ross one for my family but your name is a lot less common with the 2 t's. Could the RE no. be for after the war ,or even WW2? Did he continue in the reserves? I'm not clued up on no.s,you need ask one of the number experts but,I recall hearing that no.s were changed at the latter stage of the war but,me only,would think a 6 figure no. was post WW1.
