David B Posted 4 August , 2008 Share Posted 4 August , 2008 Hi, my paternal grandfather Walter William Bowditch No 114475 joined the ASC (MT) in Sept 1915 and was in France for a period of approx 3 years. Two questions - he was 48 at the time (and got away with stating his age as 40), were there no checks in those days query, and any clues as to where in France this company would have served. David B Posted 4 August , 2008 Author Share Posted 4 August , 2008 Hi, Thanks for that Graeme - it agrees fairly closely with his moving to France date (17 Sep 1915) and return to UK on 23 Feb 1919. In civilian life he was a chauffeur which tallies with the unit as well. rgds David
