andy1400 Posted 3 August , 2008 Share Posted 3 August , 2008 During some research I have found of our men was listed as serving with R.C.C. Royal Engineers. He is 221211 Cpl John William Jones. Could anyone tell me what or who the R.C.C was please? Cheers, Andy

sjustice Posted 3 August , 2008 Share Posted 3 August , 2008 Railway Construction Company, Royal Engineers. They were LoC Troops and each one has a separate War Diary. Kind Regards, SMJ

sjustice Posted 3 August , 2008 Share Posted 3 August , 2008 I don't see an MIC for Jones 221211. Did he serve overseas? Kind Regards, SMJ

andy1400 Posted 7 August , 2008 Author Share Posted 7 August , 2008 I do not have much info on him as yet. We have just finished the men who were killed and have only just started on the ones who survived. Any info gladly accepted though. Andy
SteveE Posted 7 August , 2008 Share Posted 7 August , 2008 Andy From the NA index, 221211 would appear to have been issued to a John S Whitfield and not a Jones. For what it's worth, the second number WR/20410 is however consistent with those allocated to Road Construction Companies. Medal card of Whitfield, John S Corps Regiment No Rank Royal Engineers 221211 Pioneer Royal Engineers WR/20410 Pioneer Date 1914-1920 Catalogue reference WO 372/21 Regards Steve
SteveE Posted 7 August , 2008 Share Posted 7 August , 2008 Bit of a long shot, but could this be him? Medal card of Jones, John W Corps Regiment No Rank Royal Engineers 227951 Pioneer Royal Engineers WR-21145 Pioneer Date 1914-1920 Catalogue reference WO 372/11 Again, second number is consistant with Road Construction Companies.
