Guest Pete Wood Posted 23 February , 2004 Share Posted 23 February , 2004 ND stands for Northumberland (Northumbrian) Division. Looking at SDGW we can see that the 1st Northumbrian Field Company, RE, had quite a few casualties at this time: 987 Spr Thomas Graham 972 Dvr Albert Luke 991 Dvr Joseph Wilson 104 CQMS John Henry Curtis were all KIA on or around 11th Feb 1086 Spr George Brittain Bone was KIA on the 13th Feb. 1336 Spr Arthur Campbell KIA 18th Feb The cemetery that most of these men are buried is in Ieper (Ypres), and they were among the first to be buried there. It seems likely, therefore, that our man lost his life in the area. It is also probable, that he was wounded on one of the three dates above and later died from his wounds. Nearly all these men had a connection with the North East of England; born or married. I can't work out how 446th Field Company links to Ist Northumbrian Field Coy. Can you...??
