CROONAERT Posted 2 February , 2003 Share Posted 2 February , 2003 I am trying to find the exact location of BOARDMAN TRENCH, mentioned in the war diary of the 11th Manchesters on 7th June 1917. I know that it was somewhere in front of Wijtschaete, but I'm looking for a map reference (trench map sheet 28SW2-5a) if at all possible. It's a British trench and they're not named on my editions of this map. Thanks in advance, Dave.
Jacky Platteeuw Posted 2 February , 2003 Share Posted 2 February , 2003 Dave, Map 28SW2-7C Wijtschate (10/03/18) gives Boardman Trench on N28b . It crosses Suicide Road which is on most of the maps. Jacky
CROONAERT Posted 2 February , 2003 Author Share Posted 2 February , 2003 Thanks Jacky. I've found it now. Running North to South right? Which side of the N-S running road is it? East or West? (It's unclear on the map I have in front of me). Thanks again, Dave.
Jacky Platteeuw Posted 2 February , 2003 Share Posted 2 February , 2003 Dave, East side of road. Is about 400m long. Starts at Kelly Trench and crosses Suicide Road at Wormwood. Cheers, Jacky

Mark Hone Posted 11 February , 2003 Share Posted 11 February , 2003 Does anyone know the origin of the name? Coincidentally I'm currently researching Lt Col Thomas Boardman DSO and was just wondering...
