Guest mmoore@chauffeurdrive.co.u Posted 24 July , 2008 Share Posted 24 July , 2008 Hello, In Comer I recently bought a beautiful silver topped ( what I would call a drill stick NOT pace stick ). When I got it home and cleaned it properly I found the following inscription. June 1915, Presented to Cpl Shipley From A.M.M. Colm 3rd E.A.R.F.A. The F could be an E making it 3rd E.A.E.R.A. I have done all the searches I can think of in a military sense and drawn a blank. Mainly because I don't have any more info about Cpl Shipley. I thought the initials might stand for East Anglian Royal Field Artillery, but as far as I am aware they did not exist in 1915. The stick was Assayed in Birmingham in 1914 and made by a silversmith called Hobson and Hobson. They had offices in London as well at the time but have since gone out of business. I will be grateful for any info regarding Cpl Shipley and or the unit/regiment. Thank you and best Regards Snoopy
