Remembered Today:

Tracing by serial number and regiment only...

Hi Jesse

The answer is yes if your luck is in  The on line MEDAL CARD INDEX only have the A & B on line at the moment, it may take them sometime to get all names on line.

I have filled lots of blanks in by database by typing in the Regiment, which in my case is the Shropshires and a Reg. No.

But beware there are mistakes with some numbers. I have found many fives and eights miss printed but a fuzzy search finds numbers nearly the same as one you are looking for.

Thank-you all for your replies. From date of September, 1915, I am looking at a Private, Serial No. 16818, 7th Battalion, Leicesters. First name was Bill (William). Curious as to fate.

Many thanks,

Jesse

Wow. Fascinating, gang. Thank-you much for your help. I have a letter home from this Private, after his arrival in France in September of 1915, so wondered about what had later become of him.
