Guest Posted 22 February , 2004 Share Posted 22 February , 2004 I'm lost!! Can anyone please give me a rough idea where men from the 1/5th Battalion Loyal North Lancs and men from the 2/South Lancs would have been fighting on 5th June 1915. I am hoping to find both of them close together, i believe they were both near Hooge but I am not completely sure.A rough guesstimate is welcome Many thanks Victoria
CROONAERT Posted 22 February , 2004 Share Posted 22 February , 2004 Victoria. 1/5th loyals were moving upto the area of St.Jean,Ypres from being in hutments to the "NW of Ypres", being fully operational in these trenches on June 6th, and the 2/S.Lancs were in the area of Hooge/Sanctuary Wood. Hope this helps, Dave. (PS...I've got the regimental histories of both of these regiments listed in the "Document repositry" on this forum if you need any further details)
Guest Posted 23 February , 2004 Share Posted 23 February , 2004 Dave, Thanks now can you give me a rough idea of how far apart these places are? Would they have perhaps shared the same hospital/casualty station? I am utterly hopeless!!! Best wishes Victoria
CROONAERT Posted 23 February , 2004 Share Posted 23 February , 2004 Thanks now can you give me a rough idea of how far apart these places are? Roughly, I'd say about 2 or 3 miles apart "as the crow flies". Yes, they could have shared the same CCS, I suppose. Dave.
