biffrocks Posted 19 July , 2008 Share Posted 19 July , 2008 Does anyone know if you are you able to check Silver Wound Badge recipients on Ancestry or any other on line research website. Sorry if this turns out to be a silly request but I am just a novice starting out researching items in my collection. Any help much appreciated. Chris_Baker Posted 19 July , 2008 Share Posted 19 July , 2008 The answer is no, as far as I know. SWBs are of course given on medal index cards, which are online, as "SWB List" or just "List" with a code number. the code can be translated into a National Archives reference, which allows you to look up the soldier's entry in the list. Chris_Baker Posted 19 July , 2008 Share Posted 19 July , 2008 I'm afraid that looks like Ancestry's army of transcribers interpreting "SWB List" as though it was a regiment.
Guest geoff501 Posted 19 July , 2008 Share Posted 19 July , 2008 The Worcestershire Regiment website has a list online of all its regiments SWB recipients. Only the name, rank and service number are given in the list. (not the SWB number) http://www.worcestershireregiment.com/wr.p...n=inc/swb_intro
