Harry died in the sinking of the 'Mendi' in the English Channel following a collision.

To add to the tragedy please do not forget that:

the South African Government made the decision that the men of the SANLC who came from their country, both the dead and the survivors, would not be awarded medals. They were good enough to support, work and often die, for their country but not good enough to be granted a medal!
