David Seymour Posted 19 February , 2004 Share Posted 19 February , 2004 Private Leonard Dixon, 27945, 21 Bn. West Yorkshire Regt., died 21/6/17. Could he be one of my Old Boys? Age on death might help here. Thetford Grammar School's Leonard was born 8/3/98. Mother was Mrs A Dixon (school register and CWGC give this). He was originally educated at Stafford College, Forest Hill and was living at Bawdeswell, Norfolk when he came to us. Family seems to move around a bit. Could be in Yorkshire by 1917. Coincidence if two Leonards had, what I presume to be, widowed mothers with the initial A. Always keen to add a 'lost' Old Boy to the memorial but have to be sure, of course. Grateful for any help, as always. David
hmsk212 Posted 19 February , 2004 Share Posted 19 February , 2004 Hi David Your best bet would probably be to get a copy of his death certificate. Steve
David Seymour Posted 19 February , 2004 Author Share Posted 19 February , 2004 Steve, Thanks for the reply. Are soldiers' death certificates easy to obtain? David
hmsk212 Posted 19 February , 2004 Share Posted 19 February , 2004 David There was a thread on tracing soldiers death certificates on the Soldiers section of the forum last month. Sorry but I am no good at putting the thread on this reply so that you can just click it ( whatever that means in computer terms). If you search the site for it I am sure you will find it and get a few good tips. Steve
