I've got the medals of Ernest Leatherbarrow MGC, my wife's great uncle. We think he was in the 42nd Division. He joined in 1918 and was wounded in the elbow and gassed. Where could I find the his service information? I would be very grateful

Thanks

Martin

Hi Martin,

The MIC on Ancestry shows that he was entitled to the Victory and British medals along with the SWB. His service number was 137445. If you can send me a pm with your e mail address I can send you the image.

Regards. Llew.

Martin, you may care to contact the Machine Gun Corps Old Comrades Association. See http://www.machineguncorps.co.uk/

Secretary is Judith Lappin : info.mgc@ntworld.com.

One member maintains a database on former servicemen, and may have something on Ernest. Alternatively, you can also contribute to the database. Every little bit helps.

Noel
