She was sunk by UC75 off Flamborough Head .

'British Vessels Lost At Sea' simply has:

Commissioned, Hired Trawler, Tonnage=181, Date lost=28.5.1918, Sunk by submarine off Flamborough Head.

Dittmar and Colledge list her as ;

Miscellaneous Patrol Vessels

In Home Waters

Dirk ( FY1649) 181 tons launched 1909, armed with 1 x 12 pounder, 1 x 6 pounder AA. Minesweeper. requisitioned on 19th September 1917 sunk by submarine 28 May 1918 off Flamborough Head.

FY is Fowey which is in Cornwall.

That seems a high port registration no. for Fowey.

The FY in this case stands for "F"isher"Y", it was allocated to all requisitioned trawlers when placed in Royal Navy service.

Actually the entry "Fy" is an error (there is a handful of similar errors in the D&C listing). DIRK's Admiralty No. was 1649. An Admiralty No. was allocated to all hired trawlers/drifters (and other vessels) when placed in Royal Navy service.
