stuart714 Posted 29 June , 2008 Share Posted 29 June , 2008 Researching Lnc-Cpl Harry A Stewart 46474, his silwar war Badge notes discharge from 3rd Battalion on the 11th january 1918. With cause sickness as per KR 392 (xvi) - what is this in Kings Regulations? And by his service number what other battalion might he served in? I have his medal card but it gives no detail of battalion. Stuart
Graham Stewart Posted 29 June , 2008 Share Posted 29 June , 2008 Stuart, 46474 L/Cpl Harry Stewart falls in among a group that were serving with the 13th(Service)Bn, Northumberland Fusiliers, two either side of him being 46473 L/Cpl Charles Grant, KIA 2/4/17 and 46475 Pte Thomas Clark, who goes onto serve with the 12/13th Bn and is wounded and missing in 1918. On top of which, among this number group are a lot of ex-Durham Light Infantrymen who have been wouned/sick previously and then transferred to the NF on recovery and it's likely the same may have occurred to Harry. KR Para 392(xvi) is actually "No longer physically fit for War service", but does include categories of sickness/wounds. Again reference to the 3rd(Res)Bn,NF may have been an 'administrative' posting in preference to a physical one, purely for the purpose of Discharge, but can only be verified by looking at his service records.
