Hi all, I am trying to find out anything I can about my G/fathers time in the R.E. during WW1. His name is Arthur Cresswell, born in Loxley, Wark`s, but later lived in Kings Heath in Birmingham. I only have two photo`s of him in uniform, both R.E., one described as, `Royal Engineers, 1st Riding Squad, Aldershot, 1917`, and the other, ` R.E. 1st Footdrill Squad, Aldershot`. He servived the war but that is all I know. I have searched for his service papers and MIC, and have visited Kew, but alas, his papers seem to have been destroyed in ww2. Any help gratefully appreciated, Thanks.
