P. J. Clarke Posted 28 June , 2008 Share Posted 28 June , 2008 Looking for information on a Lt. Col. Denis (Dennis) McCarty (McCarthy) who was to become the bodyguard (interpreter) of General De Gaulle during Second World War.
sotonmate Posted 28 June , 2008 Share Posted 28 June , 2008 PJC There is one file at Kew Archives for a D McCARTHY, WO339/91478 which is in the Officers WW1 service papers series. The only way you are going to know if it is the right one is to go and read it,get someone to read it for you,or pay for it to be copied and sent to you ! SiegeGunner Posted 29 June , 2008 Share Posted 29 June , 2008 The WW1 service records of naval officers who also served in WW2 are not yet in the public domain. Would that not be the same for an army officer who served in both wars?
