Bob Coulson Posted 29 October , 2002 Share Posted 29 October , 2002 Thinking of getting Naval and Militarys' maps for 1914-1918 on CD-ROM, just wondering what others think of them as value and content for the price.
Guest Hill 60 Posted 29 October , 2002 Share Posted 29 October , 2002 I'll stick my neck out here and say that I found it good value for money and handy for what I wanted, although it now refuses to work on my new PC! Lee
Terry Carter Posted 29 October , 2002 Share Posted 29 October , 2002 I found the Trench maps CD Rom excellent and the zoom features are great. However I have found that I do not use it much as I thought I would. I also bought the Official History Maps CD Rom, but, I later sold it on Ebay. My main interest is the Somme and I found there was only a few maps concerning the 1916 battles on it. I was expecting the Official History map for the 1st July, 1916, to be on there at least, and it was not. Regards.... Terry
Ron Posted 29 October , 2002 Share Posted 29 October , 2002 At the moment the CD Rom does not work on XP but will do when a patch is available on the Naval and Military website. You will be able to zoom in and print out if you wish small sections of the map. I find it useful but it duplicates to a large extent the maps in the Chausseus collection 'Topography of Armageddon. Bob Coulson Posted 30 October , 2002 Author Share Posted 30 October , 2002 Gents, Thanks for your comments. I think the CD may go on my Christmas list.
