Pte Samuel Goodwin Pte Arthur James Milligan

In memory of 19497 Pte Samuel Goodwin 10th Batt Lancashire Fusiliers killed Mametz 26th June 1916 age 24 and 275887 Pte Arthur James Milligan 1/7th Manchester Regt killed in action 26th June 1918 age 30. REST IN PEACE.

Tim. Know all about him and his brother (also killed) worked in the jewellery dept at the Co-op. Named on the family headstone in St James Milnrow churchyard. A full entry in my book "Not Forgotten " the only thing missing is his photo, searched the local papers from enlistment and beyond. Ralph.

Arthur appears on the Milnrow War Memorial along with his brother Donald George, also the St James War Memorial in the churchyard and on the family grave , Donald also on Rochdale Secondary School brass war memorial. They lived at 74 Harbour Lane Milnrow, about 1/2 mile from me. Arthur has an entry in the Manchester City Battalion Book of Honour , Donald was employed as a clerk in the Midland Bank in Oldham and is buried Sissonne British Cemetery. Arthur born 11 10 1887 and Donald 9 12 1898. Ralph.
