fjwiltshire Posted 25 June , 2008 Share Posted 25 June , 2008 Forum members, I need your help with uncle No.3 2353/470428 Pte William Harry Wiltshire joined 12bn London Regt (Rangers) Aug/Sept 1914 and arrived in the war zone 24/12/14, earning him the 14/15 Star. Then he won the MM, gazette 13/3/18. Um, that's it. I have no idea what happened in between. Can anyone put some flesh on those very bare bones. TIA Frank Wiltshire
bmac Posted 25 June , 2008 Share Posted 25 June , 2008 You can get a re-print of their history: The Rangers' Historical Records: From 1859 to the Conclusion of the Great War by A.V. Wheeler-Holohan and G.M.G. Wyatt for about £17 from Amazon.
Stebie9173 Posted 25 June , 2008 Share Posted 25 June , 2008 Does his MM Card also show him as still with the Rangers? http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...;resultcount=35 If so, I would suggest that it is likely to be an award from the battle of Cambrai in late 1917.
