sadsac Posted 16 June , 2008 Posted 16 June , 2008 Hello `Et Al' - one for `the pedantic' (and knowledgable) to `chew over' ; Does one serve IN or ON Submarines ?? To serve ON a `skimmer ship' YES - but ON a Sub ??? Be somewhat damp would it not !! Better to be INSIDE Sub - so serve IN a Sub !!! All right Chaps, let verbal battle commense !!! Sadsac
John(txic) Posted 16 June , 2008 Posted 16 June , 2008 I thought one was always "in" a ship - but as to Boats, who knows?
sadsac Posted 16 June , 2008 Author Posted 16 June , 2008 Joseph, Yes, but what of `INboard' ??? John, `as to boats' - that is why question !! Sadsac
horatio2 Posted 16 June , 2008 Posted 16 June , 2008 One serves IN ships (and submarines) of the Royal Navy - never ON. (Source: navalpedants.co.uk)
