Sources widely state that the picture (which is pretty much certainly of a group of Royal irish Rifles) was taken at White City (or near it). Far as I can see, White City is well outside the Divisional Area for any Royal irish Rifles Btn during the relevant period. HOWEVER there is a WHITEHALL trench near Mary Redan on the Div. boundary between 36th and 29th Divs. Is there ANY chance that the location was mixed up during the captioning of this picture?
