Jon6640 Posted 2 May , 2007 Share Posted 2 May , 2007 Can anyone name the regiment from the cap badge in the below picture? I believe that it may be West Yorkshire Regiment as the man I suspect that it is went to France/Flanders with the 15/17th West Yorks. My knowledge on cap badges isn't very good, but on E-bay this West Yorks badge is for sale which kind of matches: Many thanks Jon

bigronhartley Posted 2 May , 2007 Share Posted 2 May , 2007 Hello Jon, It is definitely the West Yorkshire Regiment, but the 15/17th West Yorks didn't wear this badge. They wore the Leeds Coat of Arms as their cap badge. It is possible, however, that the soldier may have served briefly with another Battalion of the West Yorks prior to being drafted to the 15/17th. Sorry to complicate matters. Regards Ron
