stevehowarth Posted 17 January , 2007 Share Posted 17 January , 2007 I am curious as to whether there is an equivalent of the CWGC online database for Belgian soldiers in the FWW. I have a name of a Belgian refugee who attended Skipton grammar School in 1914/15. The School magazine later recorded him as having become a private in the Belgian army. His name is Urbain Honore Slock, born 19.9.1898 In hope Steve
sotonmate Posted 17 January , 2007 Share Posted 17 January , 2007 Steve I did a bit of research last August for a member, through a colleague in Belgium. He came back with a story that they Belgian Military Museum Archives in Brussels had, only around the Millenium, received back WW1 service records from the Russians, who had taken them from the Germans at the end of WW2,who had in turn nicked them from the Belgians early in WW2 !!! You couldn't make up a plot like that. And here they are: http://www.klm-mra.be/nederlands/collectie...ukken/top2.html You can go to the site : www.klm-mra.be and ask a Michel Mourenhout your question. I have to say that we didn't get any info back but at least you know where to go and you may have more luck than I did. If you were able to visit then you may be more successful than I was ! Best wishes Sotonmate
