The Great War (1914-1918) Forum

Remembered Today:

Here is a list of the names on my Medals, certificates, letters, death plaques etc.

The complete list of existing awards to men, be it a certificate, medal plaque etc held by myself and other forum members are on page 14 of this topic. The entire list is managed by the tireless efforts of Knotty The list got a bit corrupted when guys posted awards and then deleted their post so the original reference is lost. It has now been brought up to date again by Knotty. If you decide to delete your posting please let Knotty know so he can update the list and keep it current.

Remember this is not a wants topic, there is nothing offered for sale here. This list contains awards, medals etc to ww1 personnel held at the time of posting by forum pals who should be applauded for doing so. I had asked some medal dealers to add their list, they talked the talk but did not walk the walk. If you wish to contact anyone regarding the items in their possession and come to some arrangement then the best of luck to you.

I will say it again, there is nothing for sale here.

Finally a big thank you to the tireless efforts of Knotty for keeping it all listed in alphabetical order.

The complete list is on page 14.

Regards.

Tom, and Knotty

Come on guys and Gals, you dont have to say if its a death plaque, medal, set of medals or wound badge. You dont have to give any rank , number or unit, just the names on the items in your collection. You dont even need to give the first name just the initial/s if you wish.

By putting your list on here does not mean they are for sale or trade. It does not mean you dont want them or that you are looking for someone to make an offer. It just means that an award physically exists with a forum member.

This is a good thing and I would not suggest the idea anywhere else except on this forum. In the spirit of comraderie.

Regards.

Tom.

Feck ....I said they were medals, sorry I did not mean that.

If you would like to participate you dont have to say rank unit number age whether he survived or not. You need not even say if it is a medal death plaque, swb, or anything else. Just give the sirname and the first initial.

This thread will , i am sure , gather pace as more and more collectors will be happy to let forum members know if they have their family medals in their collections.

Three cheers for the collectors who have listed so far.

Roland. :)

Hi,

Well done to all of you that have listed the names on your Medals, Plaques, SWB, etc. I think this is an excellent idea.

Even if you are not considering selling the item. At least people looking for items named to these people will be able to find them and end thier search and become obsessed with something else  .

You could then make an agreement to inform them if and/or when you are ready to dispose of them.

Keep up the good work.

Ian

Excellent postings all. Remember it is not really necessary to add if it is a medal, plaque, badge certificate etc. You need not even add rank, unit, number or full name just his sir name and initial.

Its really up to you.

Either way well done!!

Keep them coming.

Regards.

Tom.
