Stephen Nulty Posted 15 September , 2005 Share Posted 15 September , 2005 I'm wondering if anybody has any more detail on this boy. Why did he serve under the name CHADWICK? I thought that by 1918, the authorities could "see through" all the under age applicants. How did William get past this? Why was he fighting with RWF - he was American? SDGW states that he enlisted in Boston - were RWF recruiting in USA? Stebie9173 Posted 15 September , 2005 Share Posted 15 September , 2005 I've seen SDGW entries with New York too, so yes they did seem to recruit in the USA. probably just in the major Eastern Seaboard cities, I would imagine. Steve.
Myrtle Posted 15 September , 2005 Share Posted 15 September , 2005 The LDS site has William born 7th May 1903 in Boston. His full name was William Ahlgren Hesford as his mother was originally Emma Ahlgren (surname Scandinavian). His father was John W. Hesford.
