John_Hartley Posted 15 May , 2014 Share Posted 15 May , 2014 Cathedrals usually have some fine war memorial plaques to the local great and good and Worcester has a really good collection. I particularly liked a set of stained glass windows in the cloisters. There's about a dozen - all to the same simple style. One particularly caught my eye. Lawrence Barnard Carlton, RAMC, is commemorated by his parents, noting that he "gave his life for his comrade" on 10/8/15. CWGC has Private Carlton's date of death actually as the 9th. The 22 year old was serving with 40th Field Ambulance at the time. Some family details and further details of his death http://www.historical2.bham.ac.uk/memorial/ww1/c/carlton.htm And a photo of the window https://www.flickr.com/photos/8118630@N08/8125193165/
