I am researching the life and times of an I.A.R.O. officer, Cuthbert Sutcliffe Harper.

He served in 'Mespot' with the 104th Wellesley's Rifles, 1917-1919.

He retired from India in 1931 and settled in Pleshey in Essex.

I have found an article in the Chelmsford Chronicle (Fri 8 Dec 1944) in which it was stated that at the Stand Down Parade of 'D' Company, 11/Essex Home Guard the inspection was carricd out by "Lieutenant-Colonel [sic] C.S. Harper, Pleshey, second in command of the Dunmow Sector."

Is there a Forumite who could tell me more about Harper's service in the Home Guard in Eastern Command during the Second World War?

There may be references to him in Major Peter Finch's book, Warmen Courageous, the History of the Essex Home Guard 1940 - 1945?
