A Powell Posted 9 May , 2010 Share Posted 9 May , 2010 Hi, I've just received an email with information regarding my Grt Grt Uncle Zachariah Tolley being awarded the Military Medal. I had no idea of this award because I have his MIC which only stated awarded the Victory & British medals with the Silver War Badge (no mention of a MM). My relation has a copy of the London Gazette dated 27 June 1918 confiming his MM award but I have no idea how to find out further details. I've searched the war diaries of the 4th Btn (South Staffs) and the local newspaper which listed some information on awards given to soldiers but with no mention of Zachariah. I've attached a photo of Zachariah collecting his medal and his uniform doesn't seem a standard issued one (maybe a hospital uniform?). Any help would be fantastic.
