JPAE Posted 6 January , 2010 Share Posted 6 January , 2010 The first 16 minutes of today's programme was a discussion about 'Telling tales about Men- Conceptions of conscientious objectors to military service during the First World War. I hope the link works. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00pk...wed_06_01_2010/ Phil.
CGM Posted 6 January , 2010 Share Posted 6 January , 2010 The link certainly worked, and thank you for it. This subject is very interesting to me because I have family members who were fighting men and family members (and their friends) who were conscientious objectors. Not absolutists, they were non-combatants (WW1 and WW2). Regards CGM
JPAE Posted 6 January , 2010 Author Share Posted 6 January , 2010 CGM, I could have posted in 'Book Reviews', But was not sure of the Author. On re-listening I believe she is Lois in the discussion, and you could, perhaps find the book itself to continue your research. Phil.
CGM Posted 6 January , 2010 Share Posted 6 January , 2010 I have some Christmas money left and I think it sounds well worth seeking out. So many books and programmes concentrate on those who were imprisoned.
AlanCurragh Posted 6 January , 2010 Share Posted 6 January , 2010 Not the cheapest book in the world - but think how the forum would benefit it you bought it via the Amazon link! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Telling-Tales-Abou...4806&sr=1-
CGM Posted 6 January , 2010 Share Posted 6 January , 2010 I always do buy through the link, now. I've bought several books without seeing them, just on the strength of recommendations from forum members, (and never been disappointed) but I have to say that at that price I will have a look at it before buying! Thank you for looking it up.
