Messina1915 Posted 22 September , 2008 Share Posted 22 September , 2008 Can anyone make out the sentence on the reverse of this MIC? I can make out one or two words but the meaning of the sentence is eluding me. Cheers, Carole.
stevem49 Posted 22 September , 2008 Share Posted 22 September , 2008 Officer in charge (Major Rees)??? London requests instructions re disposal of medals dated 13/12/1921. Could be unit name followed by London- not sure on that one. He wants to know what to do with medals. stevem

Messina1915 Posted 22 September , 2008 Author Share Posted 22 September , 2008 Thanks Steve Had a feeling it had something to do with disposal of medals - not really surprising as the MIC belongs to a 17-year-old serving under an assumed name (real name was Leslie Arthur Billinton), a lad whose parents lived in the north but who was serving in a southern regiment, and he had possibly lived in America (at least according to SDGW) prior to enlisting! I'm not surprised they didn't know where to send the medals Cheers, Carole.
