Gallipoli brothers

Geoff,

I have, thank-you.

The 6th. were certainly a New Army battalion - K1 - formed at Preston in August 1914, but I do not know if this constitutes a 'Pals' Battalion.

Hopefully there is someone out there who can throw more light on this, Albert Fisher & the missing 'Barlow' brother?

The mysteries of Regiment numbers. Here's two brothers with adjacent numbers who ended up in different bats in the Gloucestershire Regiment

Geoff,

Thank you again; as you say the mysteries of numbers, sadly it made no difference to their fate and so close together,

I had noticed the e-mail notifications are running slow at times, but the site seems otherwise at full speed.

How about these two? Looks possible.

And these two may be related, you work it out! I'm confused

Geoff,

It is confusing, but I feel they are both 'qualifiers.' SDGW says the Breens were born in the same place; Margaret is a very common name, thus the wife could be the same name as the mother; but why one has father's name & the other mother's is one of those many anomalies thrown up by CWGC, I suppose,

I presume simply because the info was supplied by a different person - Thomas' wife. I've noticed quite a few differences in the next of kin comments. I suspect the forms arrived over a longish timescale. It is also common to see one or both of the parents died in the time between the submission of the comments for brothers.

Yes, I have noticed how often a parent died between the deaths of their sons. I suspect in was often grief. In Saffron Walden it is documented that one mother succumbed this way between the deaths of her second and third so (All 3 died) - not surprising really,

Geoff,

Wow! Thank you, all new. Another striking thing with so many coming through from you, is how very few have graves,

Around two thirds don't have graves, is that correct? But it really has more to do with my method.

GEOFF,

ThANK YOU AGAIN. I WAS AWARE OF THE HUGE PERCENTAGE OF NO KNOWN GRAVES, BUT IF YOU HAVE A 'METHOD' THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THEY ARE COMING IN BATCHES. ARE YOU WILLING TO DIVULGE YOUR METHOD? I'M ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT TOSE WITH GRAVES!

REGARDS

Oh dear, and I was hoping for a quiet weekend. Nothing turned up at Skew Bridge but Lancashire Landings turned up these. Hope its a new set for you as it looks like a very exceptional loss for one family. How did the parents cope?

If I told you how I did it I would have to shoot you, think that's the usual answer! Incidentally, is your caps lock key stuck?

Have a great weekend.

Geoff,

I'll avoid summary execution if you don't mind!

Thank you for the previous three sets, all new, but I knew of the 2 Gallipoli Galbraiths but not the third. A terrible loss, but do you infer that the fourth survived, small consolation?

Sorry about the capital letter excess, too lazy to switch it off!

Regards,

Bob

One is described as the fourth son and only three have come to light so far. Perhaps a more extensive search may tell. May have survived or been too young.

Bob,

More Lancashire Landing. You already have CAWLEY so I've not repeated them here. There are also two Anzac pairs (GILBERT, PIPER) that I should post later, although you may already have these but worth checking.
