Guest suttontwo Posted 18 November , 2005 Share Posted 18 November , 2005 Hi I am trying to find information as to the whereabouts of X/3 Trench Mortar Battery during April to September 1916. My Great Uncle was awarded the Military Medal during this time and I have been unable to find information as to where he served apart from his medal index at the National Archives which simply states "France". He was killed in Belgium in August 1917 and was recorded then as serving in the 190th Siege Battery RGA. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Paul Reed Posted 18 November , 2005 Share Posted 18 November , 2005 This unit was a Medium trench mortar Battery and was part of the 3rd Division. It was formed in February 1916 and served with 3rd Division for the rest of the war. Some info on 3rd Division here: http://battlefields1418.50megs.com/regular_divisions_pt1.htm and on Chris Baker's site: http://www.1914-1918.net/3div.htm
