Remembered Today:

Russian navy

I would be most grateful if anyone could point me toward a reliable English language account of the Russian navy in WW1. For reference, I have asked a similar question inside another post in "Other Theatres".

Thanks in advance,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

If you go to this site's index, and read text by text you will find many accounts on the Russian fleet :

http://www.warchron.com/siteindex.htm

If you're looking for more information, contact the site's admin, August Blume with my compliments, he will gladly help you.

You can also post on the forum :

Hope this helps a bit.

Best from Johan

I don't know of a book specifically on the Russian Navy but for all aspects of WW1 at sea as opposed to just the Anglo-German conflict I'd recommend A Naval History of World War I by Paul G. Halpern (ISBN 1-85728-295-7 HB & 1-85728-498-4 PB, published by USNI in the US & UCL Press in the UK). Possibly its bibliography might point you towards more specialist books?

The most recent in the bibliography is: Watts, Anthony J. 'The Imperial Russian Navy,' London . U.K., Arms and Armour Press, 1990 (ISBN:0853689121)
