Plans of Medical posts

TEW

Recommended Posts

I've created this list of plans of various ADS, CMDS, DRS, CCS & Hospitals from the WO95 diaries I hold. Mainly East Lancashire Field Ambulances, West Riding Field Ambulances but a handful from CCS or other medical diaries. There are in WO95 sequence. Will be adding more to this post as I find plans.

References, page numbers etc are from TNA downloads which may be in different parts (all identified). I was going to include a way to find them via Ancestry, sorry too long winded!! However, Ancestry downloads of the plans seem to be a better quality than I can extract from the pdfs, tried 3 different ways, compared to Ancestry and I think Ancestry's are better images.

I've added three images as examples in the relevant place.

Any errors or corrections please post or PM.

A great piece of useful information. The AMS museum also has colour plans for locations of 69th Field Ambulance drawn by AR Watt and T Smith. These include the famous plan of Essex Farm. I have used these plans on the Western Front looking for the sites.

As TEW already knows I've had a go at overlaying the 36 CCS map on Google Earth - see https://halfmuffled.wordpress.com/2016/12/10/36-casualty-clearing-station-located/

Dear Sir

with your extensive knowledge of CCS in the ypres area, can I respectfully ask if you are able to comment on the following please.

I have arelative who died 9/04/18 whilst serving with D Goy 41st MGC 'in the line' east of Ypres.  However, he is buried west of Ypres at Brandhoek New Mil Cometary, from reading the Btn War Diary, I believe he died of wounds, on this date.

Would you know of a CCS in the whereabouts of this cometary please?

David,

Apologies for the delay. It seems much of your question was answered in your other post on 41 MGC.

Having seen the detailed reply I checked the diary for 139 FA.

They took over a Divisional Rest station from 89 FA at Red Farm 9/4/18. Later in the day that state: very busy, high number of wounded from Poperinghe.

Red Farm is just on the north side of the road and not far from Brandhoek.

Map Ref, 28.G.5.d.7.3

Regards

Tim
