MelPack Posted 12 January , 2016 Share Posted 12 January , 2016 I was alerted to this possible non comm KIA by the following snippet in the Hull Daily Mail of 10 June 1915: I would appreciate someone checking the CWGC just in case I am missing the blindingly obvious. MIC and Soldiers Effects return below:

PaulC78 Posted 12 January , 2016 Share Posted 12 January , 2016 I've tried multiple searches on CWGC but I can't find him. No death certificate or entry in SDGW either, so far as I can see. There is a will available for him on the gov.com site.

Phil Evans Posted 12 January , 2016 Share Posted 12 January , 2016 I can't find him either. Interestingly, there are nine casualties from the Brigade that are listed on CWGC for the 24th May 1915. It looks like two of them were recently added to the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Phil

RaySearching Posted 13 January , 2016 Share Posted 13 January , 2016 Curiously I cannot find a Wilson Anderton or a Wilson Alderson on the overseas death indexes having died overseas on the date given That's to say he may be there its just that I cannot find him Regards Ray
ss002d6252 Posted 13 January , 2016 Share Posted 13 January , 2016 It's not the first one I've seen missing from the overseas registers but where the army were clear he was dead (as per the gratuity pay out). It looks like a specific part of the reporting process broke down.Craig
