Just when I thought I was getting somewhere...

SNEDDON, Daniel U. Private, Glasgow branch of the Bank of Scotland.

CWGC only lists five D Sneddons. I would have thought it might have been a more common name than that. Oh well, all the better for me. Especially since three of them don't have the name Daniel.

So two possibilites. Both Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. One has no family details, the other lists his mother as being from Alloa.

Sitting on my home PC are my photos from the Alloa War Memorial, including the name plaques.

However, a quick look at the online Scottish National War Memorial has them both listed as David. B*gger. SDGW has five D Sneddon and no Daniels. Double b*gger.

So...the Bank plaque might be wrong. Not unusual as it has been before, but this is the first time it's been a name. I've had the odd rank wrong, but never a name.

Hmm. I think I might put this one on the back burner for now until I can turn up some more info.
