The entry for William on page 119 of the book states that they were unable to identify him. Pages 115-119 deal with the 3 Kineton War Memorials/Plaques.

We believe that in fact it is Private 13101 [George] William KEYTE - 4th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment - known as William who was KIA at Gallipoli on 6 May 1915 during the 2nd Battle of Krithia.

Evidence:

  1. His pension card give his next of kin as Annie Keyte of Church Street, Alcester, Warks
  2. The 1901 census shows William, born Alcester 1893, living with father Thomas born 1867 in Alcester and mother Annie at Back Lane, Kineton
  3. The 1911 census shows William born Alcester 1893, living with his parents Thomas born 1867 in Alcester and Thursa Ann at School Road, Alcester

William Keyte is also listed on the Alcester War Memorial and in fact in the Roll of Honour book on page 1.

The 1901 census gives us the link to Kineton with supported birth year information.

Here are our (South Warwickshire Family History Society) memorial pages for 1. William and 2. Kineton
