Lieutenant William Eberts Brown - Killed in Action
Lieut. W. E. Brown, son of Mrs. Brown, Owen Sound, was at U.C.C. in 1902-1903. He was killed in action on September 28th, 1918; going overseas with the 227th Battalion
from Sault Ste. Marie a year ago, he transferred to the 58th Battalion. He was an Owen Sound boy and highly thought of; after leaving U.C.C. he graduated from Osgoode
Hall. Previous to going overseas, he was partner in the firm of McPhail and Brown, the Sault. He leaves a wife and one child.

While standing at the entrace to the dugout on the morning of September 28th 1918, this officer was hit by a piece of shrapnel from a high explosive shell and
instantly killed.
