Comment:  The narrative is oddly devoid of any reference to the Western Front. To counter this, observe the official war despatches of Monday, 9th September 1918,
according to reports of the Wolff Telegr. Bureau, Volume 8, National Publishing House, Berlin (1918)...

Local fighting north of the Ploegsteert Forest and La Bassée Canal.  North of Armentières the enemy attacked again; we rejected him and took prisoners.  South of the
Péronne-Cambrai road, the enemy continued their assault by deploying stronger forces against the Gouzeaucourt - Epéhy line north of Templeux; they failed with heavy
losses for the opponent.  Our forerunners yesterday denied superior enemies the advance across St. Simon and the Crozat Canal.  Exploratory battles between Oise and
Ailette.  Between Ailette and Aisne the enemy broke out after several unsuccessful partial attacks towards evening; he was bloody rejected all over the front, partly
in close combat and by counterattacks.

Partial attacks failed between Aisne and Vesle, while in Champagne partial attempts by the opponent failed.  From an English squadron, which advanced to the attack on
Mannheim, 5 aircraft were shot down.  In August, 565 enemy aircraft were shot down on the German fronts, 62 of them by our anti-aircraft guns, and 53 capture balloons.
Of these, 251 aircraft are in our possession.  The rest has obviously crashed beyond the enemy lines.  We lost 143 planes and 86 captive balloons during the fight.
