SgtPrice Posted 25 December , 2019 Share Posted 25 December , 2019 (edited) Remembering my great uncle L Cpl George Henry Sutton, 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regt, who was killed by a Prussian sniper on 25th December 1914 whilst taking part in the Xmas truce. He was one of two members of the Regt who died that day. He was a reservist having already served with the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regt, in India, as a regular, before returning to Leicester to work on the tramways before being called up. He is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial. He was due to get married that December. I visited the site where he was killed, 100 years to the day. A moving experience. My profile picture is of him. Jill Johnson Posted 26 December , 2019 Share Posted 26 December , 2019 My sister visited our Uncle's grave on the 100th anniversary of his death also and she said what a moving experience it was. He'd taken a lot of finding ans she felt as if he was breathing a sigh of relief at having been found at last. They are NEVER forgotten and their memories are cherished forever. RIP George.
