hen190782 Posted 18 September , 2014 Share Posted 18 September , 2014 Good Afternoon Looking for some information on Leading Stoker (300050) John Moon who died on 16th May 1918 whilst serving on HMS Egmont. I have seen references to HMS Egmont as a Base vessel in Malta and would be interested to discover whether John Moon died as a result of enemy action or whether he died of illness - he was 39 at the time of his death and is buried in the Royal Naval Cemetery at Capuccini in Malta. Thanks, Nigel

horatio2 Posted 18 September , 2014 Share Posted 18 September , 2014 EGMONT was the base ship at Malta from 1906 to 1933. She carried the accounts of several Mediterranean units, including Auxiliary Patrol.
hen190782 Posted 18 September , 2014 Author Share Posted 18 September , 2014 Many thanks, Horatio. Service card records that he died of a broken spine in an accident on Mimosa.
